Is there any way to get these to work on vista correctly

[caliber]

pc games- all sonic and megaman games cds (changing the compatibility doesn't work)
emulators- all game emulator esp. dreamcast( with Chankast the graphics is transparent and blocky also the game doesn't work)
programs- alcohol120( can not mount)

If compatibility didn't help, all I can tell you is to make sure you get the performance and reliability updates and the compatibility updates. If you didn't get the automatically, I usually pull them from here:
