xenogears freezing problem

I'm still particularly new at the whole emu-thing, and I'm not sure if the problem is my pc or my epsxe. Also I apologize if my english is bad (both in grammar and spelling).

The problem is that the game freezes in the part when fei is viewing a black and white film of his past (the one where he's playing with a ball with his mother(?) After that the view shifts from the screen to the elder fei and a 'kid' fei under a spot light.

Also during that scene, the opening music starts to play.

I'm not sure if that's supposed to happen so it would really help if you could help me. thanks

try ePSXe 1.52. 1.6 has the freezing problem.

uh it still freezes. and the opening music still plays

It doesn't matter if you use 1.5.2 or 1.6.0, it will still freeze when you get to the "dream sequence"

But there is a workaround.

Press F7 right before the dream sequence, and again right after.

If it doesn't work the first time, keep trying, as you have to press F7 at the right time, which can be tricky.

A. There is a problem with Xenogears in two particular scenes: The Dream sequences. What you have to do is go to just before this sequence, press F7, and then press F7 again afterwards. Some people, like me have no problems with it. Others have no end of trouble. If you can't get past this using the F7 key, try using PSXeven.
Also, in the first battle with Deus, it may hang for no reason. basically this is due to an attack he uses. Your best bet is to use a save state after each and every turn, and load it if it dies.

Maybe it's the way my plugins were set 'cause I didn't have to press F7 in ePSXe 1.5.2 to get past the dream sequence. Oh well

In what emulator you're running the game and if you're using plugins then what plugins you're using?

You'll have to be more specific. We need the emu and plugins you're using, the kind of file your game is in, your specs, OS, and graphics card. We could also use more info as to what your issue is, btw. Saying you're getting an error and stuff doesn't really help.

Unzip to the plugin folder and try these 2 video plugins (D3D or Open GL):

If that doesn't work, try PSXeven--memcard files are compatible, so you can transfer them to PSXeven from ePSXe.
