Default need help with save states for wily wars

So I use the Genesis emulator Genesis Plus 1.29, and have been playing Mega Man-The Wily Wars. I downoaded a save state so that I could access the Wily Tower, but all that happens when I try to load it is that it says "state loaded" at the bottom left corner, and nothing happens (the game continues in the exat same state as if nothing happened. i renamed the save state files to .frz, the used to be in .frm and .gs0. Does anybody know whats going on and how I can make the save states work? Thanks hugely.

From where did you download the save state?

And where did you find this "Genesis Plus"?

Genesis Plus is from www.bannister.org . I think I got the save states from Zophar's domain.

    Then that's the problem.

The save state you downloaded is for a different emulator: GeneCyst.

Save states for that emulator aren't compatible with yours.

Btw, if you have access to a Windows machine, then you should use GENS or Kega Fusion.

Otherwise you'll have to find save states for a Mac emulator--good luck with that.

Macs aren't as popular as PC's, so you won't find as many emulation resources for them.
