Default How do you get this mame emulator to work?

I have no idea how to get it to work.I download it(the latest version) and extracted the files and when I double clicked it,it said something about opening it in command prompt.I tried to do that but it still didnt work. All they show me is information in the command prompt which is useless. The only thing I actually did was create mame.ini(which I have no idea what that is).
I also downloaded killer instinct two and extracted it in the roms folder. At least 10 files came out of killer instinct two which was 512 kb titled u10-l1 u11-l1 etc. Also the killer instinct two file was titled kinst.zip I downloaed it from rom-world.
How do i get this emulator to work and how do i configure it?also how do i get this game to work?Is there another emulator I can get? This emulator sucks because its so difficult to use.I never had this much trouble with any emulator.

You run MAME from the command prompt.
You can also use front-ends or a Windows version of MAME like MAME32 instead.

    MAME32's home page:
    http://mame32qa.classicgaming.gamespy.com/

And you don't extract the files.
You leave them in the zip files, and put the zip files in the rom folder.

That's a big trap too. For probably 80% of the emulation world the archives are to be extracted. But for MAME, you leave them alone.

Yet another trap is that some games need the neo-geo bios file in order to run at all, so make sure you have that too.

Actually for Killer Instinct 2, he's going to need the CHD file for that game too:
    http://www.mameworld.net/maws/romset/kinst210

CHD stands for compressed hard disc

It's part of the game's data, and CHD files tend to be huge.

Here's a list of all the games that need their CH
    http://www.mameworld.net/maws/srch.php?chd=yes

You can get CHD files from here, but you'll need to follow the rules about seeding as it's a ratio'd torrent site:

    Read my last post.
It tells you what you need for Killer Instinct:

I yold you it's a ratio'd tracker, and like all ratio'd trackers, you have to register:

    This is the parent:
    Killer Instinct 2 (v1.4)

    These are it's clones:
    Killer Instinct 2 (v1.0)
    Killer Instinct 2 (v1.1)
    Killer Instinct 2 (v1.3)
Killer Instinct 2 (v1.4k, upgrade kit)

So, you need Killer Instinct 2 (v1.4) and the CHD file.

If you want to play the clones (might be some difference in game play) then you need to also download that clone and the CHD file (they all use the same CHD file)

To play a clone, you also need to have the parent.
But to play the parent you don't need the clones.

Is this starting to make sense to you now?
