    Default IMG is not ISO

    downloading Star Ocean 2.

    I'm new to emulating PSX. inside the archives of the game is another archive. inside that archive are three files.

    *.ccd
    *.img
    *.sub

    I am unfamiliar with SUB and CCD. can I simply convert the IMG file to ISO for mounting?

    You can mount it by using the CCD file.

    I use powerISO for my virtual drives as it is a superior program. but in order for it to work I need a BIN, DAA, or ISO. I prefer ISO.

    what do the CCD and SUB files do? what exactly is contained in the IMG file? I would assume it's the original data from the disc but I can't be too sure based on the weird file structure I've obtained the game in.

    Basically:
    CCD=CUE=structure of the CD
    IMG=BIN=main channel data
    SUB=contains info on the SUB channel data

    Use Daemon Tools, as it seems your "superior" program can't actually do what it should.

    Alcohol 52% is now free, and does the same thing.

    powerISO isn't meant for emulation. I don't like having a bunch of programs that do the same things. regardless. I've been looking for SO2 forever. I now have it. and yet another icon in the taskbar.

    but for educational purposes. I wanna make an ISO of one CD. how would I go about taking these three files and making a single working ISO out of them?

    UltraISO and MagicISO can do it. Never have tried it myself, so I can't tell you which one is the best.

    As I said before, the CCD and SUB file contain information as to how to arrange the data. So, I'd say yes.

    SCUS_944.21
    SO2.BIN
    GAME.ccd
    GAME.sub
    SYSTEM.CNF

    Only if the game contains audio tracks or uses Libcrypt protection. PowerISO is not the best program out there. It may be powerful but personally I find that Alcohol 120% is much better then that as it natively supports almost all image formats (basically all but PowerISO's daa format which nobody likes or uses anyway). Daemon tools is a good program if all you need is a virtual drive and supports the same formats as Alcohol but these programs can have conflicts with other virtual drive program, especially with each other when installed on the same computer at the same time.

    Also a good, free and powerful program that allows you to burn data discs with relative ease is ImgBurn. It's from the creator of DVD Decrypter and I've been forced to use it since my copy of Nero 7 doesn't want to work for me right now.

    If I were you I'd do away with PowerISO and get something better. I've had Alcohol 120% for years now and it has never failed me when it comes to burning and emulating images.

    That doesn't look right. The first and last files there are suppose to be in the image while the other 3 are the image files themselves.

    alcohol is to heavy for me. I generally just use it for watchin my movies on as DVD decrypter doesn't do the mounting thing. Nero's good and all for burning but again I want lightweight, ease of use programs. like powerISO. it's what I use and I love it for it's simplicity.

    PowerISO can't handle the unstable format of PlayStation games. It may have ease of use but so does Alcohol once you find everything. Most of what I do is right-click commands to mount and unmount images.

    I don't like any of those programs that end with "..ISO" They're all crappy in one way or another. (some can't rip images with multi-session or audio tracks)

    CDRwin, CloneCD, Alcohol120% and Isobuster. Those are all I recommend to have on a PC. Oh, and Nero for backup purposes
    Give me what I want or face destruction........IN JAPANESE!
