So I'm a bit late on the responses... sorry about that.

I don't really watch sad, depressive anime, so I can't help you out there... sorry.

    Any suggestions?
Yeah late response, but you should try looking into Rozen Maiden if you like memorable and cute characters.

I'm trying to decide between 2 animes at the moment. I can't figure out if I should watch Wolf's Rain or .hack//sign first...

The question is this: Which of the two animes is better?

    .hack//sign

Wolfs Rain should have been the better of the two (based purely on how cool the basic premise is) but it suffers from way too much filler, including a fscking recap episode less than halfway through. Which is pretty well unforgiveable in a standard length anime.

Not that either series is a classic.

I'd say it depends on how much you enjoy dialogue-driven or action-driven anime. To be fair, both are heavy on story and character interaction, but Wolf's Rain has a slight edge in action whereas .hack fails miserably in that department. Both are good series but not perfect, as both have their fair share of faults, so you should just pick whatever story interests you more.

Anime character's with animal features? Well, the main characters in Wolf's Rain are wolves... and Outlaw star has a character with the attitude of a cat...

Loveless. All the characters in Loveless are catgirls and catboys (there's an explanation to the thing.) Loveless is a pretty good anime involving magic fights and some psychology, but it has quite a tone of shounen-ai, so avoid it if you must.

Utawarerumono is full of catlike main characters. The show itself is action/adventure in a fantasy environment. Who knows, you might like it.

There's also a small arc around halfway through that swaps out much of the shonen-ai for shojo-ai.

You'd think that anyone who didn't have a problem with one wouldn't have a problem with the other, but people are irrational idiots.

    Anime.. hmmm...

    I'd recommend..

Claymore - Chicks+Swords+Monsters=pwnage. For anyone up for Action and a Solid story line! XD

Seto no Hanayome - This series offers major slapstick-like comedy, if you're looking for a quick laugh this one is a good choice for you : 3

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien - Chick flick love anime gone tragic. A good drama/romance. Sort of depressing.

Shuffle - ermm.. comedy / romance anyone? Its vintage harem coated with a good story.

    err.. forgot to mention:

Sayonora Zetsubo Sensei - What can i say? "I'm in despair".

"I'm in Despair! The harsh RPG world has left me in Despair! I'll go die!

Whats that? Stop thinking about the worst case scenario, you say?

I've been this way since i was born. To make me stop would require... As i thought. I SHOULD just end my life."

Grave of the Fireflies might get to you, but you've probably already seen it. World War II, orphans trying to survive, pretty heavy ending.

Or Colorful just to snap you out of it. If you don't laugh your ass off, I'll have to assume that they put the damn thing on right for a change.

    Be afraid. Be very afraid.
