Default How can I reinsert an .str file into a PSX game?

I'm currently translating a PSX game from Japanese to English. I've got most of the game itself complete, but I'm lacking the movies. I've ripped the movies, converted them to .avi, added subtitles to them, and converted them back to .str. I can view the movies just fine with an .str video player, but I'm not sure on just how to copy them over the original movies in the actual game. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Extract the original game's files with ISOBuster

Then add your translated files over the top of the old files, in the folder view.

Then rebuild the files into an ISO. I am unsure of what's the best method, as I've heard PowerISO etc fucks up the STR's.

Actually. I think you can import a new file over the top of an old one in a disc image with CDMage.

well, here's my problem. the files are compressed into .STS and .XAS files. i'm not sure how to put them in there... i wonder what would happen if i removed the .STS and .XAS files and just inserted the .STR files...

Won't work, you'll have to edit the table where the STS amd the .XAS files are.

well, assuming there's no header data...

    copy /b movie1.str+movie2.str+movie3.str+movie4.str movie.bin

    ...worked for ToP.
i'll try it and post if it worked.
