XBOX 360 problems

I am having this rather odd problems with my xbox 360. Whenever i put a xbox 360 game into my xbox and close the tray the system will attempt to read the cd then reject the cd few seconds after. I have no idea why this is happening and i was hoping that someone could put in some commentary on this issue.. thx in advance

does it make a grinding noise ? do you have a elite or premium ?

yes it does make some grinding noise. and i have a premium

Call microsoft, best advice there really is. Only way to even attempt to fix it would be to open it, which is pointless.

Though, try to put the console horizontal or vertical (Opposite of what it is). Ive had that happen before, but even then, that was before I had to replace that system.

seconded, call up Microsoft right away... hopefully you an get your system reseated with the extra heatsinks and all

tried calling microsoft. They told me some simple crap that didnt work so they told me to pay 160 bucks and send it in right away. i think i am gonna try fiddling a bit with it first before i send it in

Is your 360 within warranty ??? If yes, then why are they asking for $160

My 360 always rejected my Quake 4 disc.
Then it wouldn't load Dead Rising at all, so I sold it Biggest mistake of my life.

About the heatsinks issue, can you elaborate more on this ?? Do all 360s need it ??? Are the newer ones coming with more heatsinks or is this issue being resolved in the newer 360s ???

If so, how do I figure out which 360 has this heatsink issue resolved ? Is there any way to figure this out by looking at the box or model number, etc or by looking at the 360 itself ???

PS: I tried to ask this same question in another thread but no one seems to be replying
