Default Either the emulator sucks or it's my computer

Using ePSXe with...petes graphics plugin. Uh. Can't recall which one it is at the moment. I think 3Dfx one.

Anyways. I downloaded Final Fantasy Tactics, and nothing I can do will make it speed up. What other options are there for speeding the game up? To where it runs at a berable pace.

    N................o........t...........l..........i .........k.......e........t......h......i......s.. ....

I'm not at all new to this sort of thing, but I kinda still am.

You'd think that a computer built four years past the PSX came out would have better specs than it, right?

Write your computer specs, and driver revisions, which os you are running on it. That's for starters.

Make sure your graphics plugin's set onto 60FPS.

At least 512 MB RAM are needed with XP if you wanna be able to emulate without much trouble. Having a decent vid card is also recommended. Then again, my on-board one does the trick. Sure, it doesn't look THAT good, but it works.

    Um.

I can't get that much RAM.

Why does it need so much?

So, like, even if I added like 40-50 it wouldn't help?

    More always helps.

You can easily snatch some old shit from flee markets or little shops.

Try the emu on Fast setting (lower left corner of vid config window), and if that doesn't help, then install that other stick and try again.

If you want an emulator that doesn't need too many systems resources to run then you can get pSX The Emulator. It uses a lot less system resources as ePSXe becasue it doesn't have any of the advanced graphics features as ePSXe. I have played a little bit of Tactics on it and it runs perfectly.

Okay, I downloaded it, and got it working and then tried to play the game..

I was all " Yes!" when the PSX logo apeared, was going normal speed. The " Sone Computer Entertainment America: thing went nirmal speed...then...just a blank screen.

    Um. What's going on?

I've tried that emu on this old PC, and it never works. Starts, then slows down to a halt. I always get the feeling it has much higher requirements than it appears.

Get Emurayden, and just run it. No plugins, no nothing. See if that one works.

Hm...maybe I should try Tactics again to be sure that was the emulator I was playing it on. It's been several months now.

    [EDIT]
Yeah it's working for me. What version did you download?
