    If its gonna happen...

    I'd Keep my PSP.

I also think the PAD controls are fine (I'm a Pal user BTW)

It's just like the PS1/PS2. They redesign consoles to make it better.

How can you possibly say the directional pad is fine? Have you tried playing Guilty Gear or KOF on it? Sure, for roleplaying games, a good pad isn't needed, but some games can't really be played without a good directional pad.

Also, the PSX/PS2's pads are much, much better than the PSP's

I've been playing nothing but RPGs on the PSP, and IMO the pad is crap. Something as simple as walking diagonally shouldn't be a pain. I don't know how they did it, it's practically identical to the PSX style...
*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here

I like my PSP the way it is too, away in a box out in the shed.

If it happens, I'll get it, cause I don't have any of the new handhelds and since the price drop, both the DS and PSP are options for me.

I won't be buying one because I already have my homebrew PSP.

maybe i get one if the 3.40 OE is the last custom firmware. Then i have one for homebrew and one with the latest Sony firmware to play newer games.

    Copy/paste from another forum:

-Face buttons are visibly raised and easier to hit.
-Memory Card slot has changed somewhat.
-Wifi switch is now on top, presumably the wifi unit is behind the screen now. Helpful since the old unit would heat up your hands after heavy use!
-Battery is now 1200maH, a 1000 less than the older unit. Sony are promising better battery life?
-PSP can now accept power charge directly through the USB port.
-Battery cover features a new mechanism to open it.
    -Infrared port removed.
-Hold switch is on the left side, seperated from the power switch

    Weight: 280g→ 189g
    Battery: 3.6V/1800mAh→1200mAh
    Main Memory: 32MB→ 64MB

I'll be getting one for sure!

Well it seems I'm interested in main memory and battery life upgrade and they didn't even update the screen or the pad bleh. I'm keeping the old one for now.

What battery upgrade are you talking about :\ Bloody hell, they removed 1000 something outta the current one I think my value pack came with an 1800 and the current batteries available are 2200, which they say has 22% more power

I don't see any reason for me to buy the newer PSP lite

The d-pad is also updated and is apparently better than the original. Much more responsive. Didn't know about that when I made my previous post.

Well that's what Kaz Hirai said during the E3 conference. Perhaps the new PSP uses the battery more effectively and thus doesn't need more than that.
