    Default Busted X-Box DvD Drive

I need to replace my X-Boxes DVD drive, I took it apart and looked the drive over, pretty basic stuff, only thing is the power input is different, So can I by a drive with that input or is there a adapter i can use with just a norm run of the mill drive, Kinda in the dark here this anit my area.

No, there isnt. Buy a replacement drive on ebay, they (use to) run for about 30$ new. The are one or two models that can be modded, but they cost more usually, and then require work.

No, I didnt. That drive will not read xbox original disks. You need a specific drive with a specific firmware for it to read original xbox games, as the disks are read differently (some say backwards, but it may be more complicated then that).

It will read backups, but if hes just opening it now, I doubt its modded, and Im sure he has originals that need to be read, in addition to being able to close the case and have it look normal.

Cheap and easy, though CD-rs arent the best compatibility without a quick tweak, DVD-rs work fine.

Yeah, I don't like Thomson drives. I have a Philips which reads cds as well. Samsung are supposed to be the best, or so i've heard...
