Default Computer crashing when loading Windows

Recently my computer has stopped responding about 4 times now just when Windows starts up. It crashes when the loading screen is still fading in. I force-shut down by holding down the power button, then the bios asked me if I wanted to start Windows normally or use my recent "good" setting that worked. I chose the good settings. Is there a way to deal with this problem, because I don't believe I have a virus or anything. And it only happens about 20% of the time.

    I sometimes have this.
When it's loading Windows the bar will freeze and I have to reboot it, and choose 'good' settings. It hasn't happened in a while, but I would appreciate some information on this aswell.

Download and use HijackThis and post the log here, and wait for someone qualified to check it and tell you if there are any problems that need fixing:

Uh, well, yeah, windows... crashes, for, well, no reason. Just because it's, you know, windows?

All you have to do is press the reset button. Yup, pretty simple.

Seriously though, 20% is quite a lot. It's 20/100, 4/20, 1/5. 20%. Do you have anything that scans your hard-disk and stuff before the login prompt loads up. Like anti-viruses. Or do you not switch of the comp for long periods of time.

Windows might crash if restarted after being on for a long time.

Loading bar? On windows? What archaic model are you using?

Yes, there's a loading bar that scrolls across for a minute or so. I will download HijackThis, and about leaving my computer on for long periods of time, I usually have it running for at least over an hour or so, but how would that affect how Windows starts?

    EDIT: I attached the logfile.

How long the computer is on has no effect unless you're 100% infested with spyware. Then, you're just giving it a longer time to attack your computer. My computer is on 15-20 hours a day, and it never crashes unless I do something stupid like mis-clikc in the process list.

My Windows doesn't have a loading bar when booting
I recommend you set your computer on fire. I guarantee it'll never attempt to boot up only to crash again.

The only Windows I've seen without a loading bar is Vista.

Doesn't seem to be doing it now out of the 5 times I've started it up with the good settings.

Happened to me once when I tried to manually change my boot screen. Have you done something there? Or anything that affects booting?

Okay, this may sound strange but this has worked for me too many times.

Start the PC, and put the WinXP disc, select the booting device to the CD Drive and let it load, when it's done, go to Recover Console and write "dir" in the command prompt, it will show the contents of the hard drive.

If this doesn't work, then write chkdsk, it will look for errors and fix some of them, then write dir again and the contents should be shown. Write Exit and remove the CD. Let it load normally.

Yeah, makes no sense, but it has always worked for me and other people I know. Probably has something to do with Windows not recognizing the HDD, but when it lists the contents I guess it should be like: "Oh, look at that, the files were there."

I think I used the recovery discs or did something similar to Fer.
