    Default Chankast Help...

I downloaded chankast because I read it has really good compatability. However, when I try to load the 3 games I've downloaded with Daemon tools I have issues. The games are:

    Sonic Adventure (Sonic.Adventure.SelfBoot.cdi)
    Skies of Arcadia (SOA_CD1_ECH.cdi)
    Phantasy Star Online (E-PSO2US.CDI)

When I load any game the Dreamcast Intro with the Red Swirl comes up fine, then it has me input the date and time. Then it just goes back to the Dreamcast Intro again, and then to date/time entering screen again. Then it goes to the menu. When I select start game or whatever, it just goes back to the intro again and then in the same loop.

How do I load games in Chankast?? I've read through many websites but haven't found the answer and I know you guys are usually right on top of things.

Thanks for your help in advance; sorry for the long post.

Usually you load them up through a virtual drive. You make sure the drives are set correctly so Chankast detects the right drive where the image is loaded in, which would be the virtual one.

Set the CD-ROM plugin from 'ASPI' to 'xxxx' when loading a virtual drive.

Some Echelon releases with "group intros" do not load with Chankast. I believe Skies of Arcadia has one of these, but it does work with Chankast. A lot of Echelon's releases had their "group's intro".

Download this BIOS file, extract it and then right click it and go to properties, make sure to check read only.

Also, make sure to use Daemon Tools 3.29.

It's obvious he has the BIOS if the emulator's loading into the BIOS. And I think Cookie's right there, Daemon Tools 3.29 probably will fix the problems.

I have been using Daemon Tools to make the virtual drives and I have configured Chankast to read that drive. Also, I have the CD plugin set at xxxx instead of aspi. The only thing different is I have daemon tools 3.47 not 3.29 so I'll try that one and get back to you.

Thanks for the quick responses; you guys seriously kick arse!

The BIOS has to be set to READ ONLY or Chankast modifies it, causing the time/settings loop.

Making the BIOS read only didn't work. Are there multiple versions of the bios?? I am still looking for daemon tools v.3.29

I recommend grabbing Alcohol 120%. You can use it for free for 30 days. It has a very easy to use Virtual Drive. Even if you don't keep Alcohol, it will tell you if the virtual drive is the problem.

After multiple restarts from removing the 3.47 and install 3.29 for Daemon Tools I finally ran the emulator from that and it STILL didn't work. I'm gonna try alcohol.

Just tried alcohol, still no dice. The only other things I can think of is either the versions of my game downloads are not compatable (even though my sonic is not echelon as far as I know and phantasy star does not have the echelon intro) or I have a bad version of the emulator; I have ChankastAlpha025... Could there be a better version??

That version is the lastest one.

So did you dl a fresh bios file, never used by the emu, you set both dc_bios.bin and dc_flash.bin files to read only and it didn't work?

I have a problem kind of like this...

It used to do the loop thing, and I got the BIOS again. That fixed it, but now it reads games as an audio CD...

    Help?
