There is probally so many ways to do this. My way would be run the emu with a game, start record on second pc that has left right audio in and svideo. After the video file is done id edit it how i want it start to finsh using virtual dub. Then virtual dub has an option to seperate the audio from the video into a wav. From there convert the wav to anything you want.

I believe that Kawaks has a way to do this using a special Winamp plugin but I'm not sure about Mame. Also, it's easier to just connect your Line-Out to your Line-In and do an audio recording from there using any program you want. If you want to use your speakers during this you can just connect a splitter to the Line-Out. This is what I do when I want to record audio from my computer.

With Mame plus you can just go to the File menu and choose Record Wav file.

Recording music from games won't work since you're under attack and stuff, there will be sound effects during the music.

He wants a music player that plays (and records) the music straight from the zipped rom.

    Get M1. http://rbelmont.mameworld.info/?p=189
and a GUI frontend for it http://www.emuhq.com/attachment.php?id=254 (put its files in the same folder where you unzipped M1)

Running it for the first time, select the folder(s) where you have your arcade roms and then rescan it and that's it. (you can edit these settings from the bridge.ini anytime) This works for arcade roms only. It seems to run neogeo games too. neat even has a built-in audit function
The list window is always empty. I have no idea how to make a list with the proper track names since those originally aren't in a rom but that window must be there for a reason. Otherwise, just press the >| button to forward and hear all the tracks on the rom

The Empress song of Magical Drop 3 R0xx0rs!!!!

I don't think so, most people just use the spc plugin with winamp to play downloaded .spc music files of SNES roms, because these .spc files are REALLY small (kilobytes in size). You can download a whole bunch at zophar. There are more sites that carry them too. spc is the exact game-quality music you hear from the game.

If there are no spc files of the music you want, you can rip them yourself out of the rom with ZST2SPC
    (I never tried it)

(what game is your avatar from?)

I don't know. I picked it at random and stuck with it. I'll try 2 find out 4 u.
Man, I had it on the tip of my tongue but i couldn't spit it out.
I played so many role playing it hard for me to keep track of the characters.

    edit--
    sorry.I meant genesis.
I'm trying to get the music from darius2.
    Zophar doesn't have it.
the arcade one doesn't sound like the genisis one.
I'm a big game music fan and I notice that most songs on the sega one sound better than the arcade one.
What number is the empress song of magic drop 3 for bridgeM1.
the list for that program does not show song titles.
What other songs or game music that is good or ones that you would recommend to listen to.

Zophar has it. You were looking at the SNES music page.
Here's the genesis music page http://www.zophar.net/gym/
Genesis uses .gym whereas SNES uses .spc. There is a winamp plugin for it too
    http://www.zophar.net/utilities/gym.html choose YMAMP or in_GYM

M1 doesn't show titles of the tracks cause they aren't there in the rom at all. I have no idea if there are people out there making titles of the roms' music for use in M1 but it sure would be nice if there were. I don't even know how to insert the titles inside the rom files myself for M1 to read from. It's probably the [Album Editor] tab at the top. But that one hasn't been implemented yet. It's still being worked on
You can change the skin. Right-click anywhere on the player and select Theme.....
