I'm playing Pokemon Gold on VisualBoyAdvance, and I want to use TGB to play the same ROM. However, my save file doesn't transfer, and I' stumped on how to get it to work. Any suggestions?

Have you tried manually searching for your save? If you have and it doesn't appear, try looking for all files in the folder your save /should/ be in.
I don't know if it'll work, but it seems like something to try.
Well, the VBA extension for saved games is sgm, and the TGB extension is sv.
Try renaming the file extension from .sv to .sgm or vica versa.
You can't transfer save states but you should be able to transfer battery saves. VBA's battery save files have .sav extentions and are named the same as the rom file that it was saved with. Just make sure that you have your save names properly and it should work.
Alright, I got it to work, but I want to use Gold, and a copy of Gold, and it wont work right. Anything I can do to clear this up?
Actually, has anybody been able to successfully link up and trade Pokemon or stuff like that?

plz use the EDIT button...
Do u mean to link up with another emulator online?
edit:
500th post w00t!
No, I meant using an emulator that supports the link feature for Game Boy. But, I'm open to any way of linking these up as long as it works.
EDIT: I've figured out that BGB emulator can link gameboys. It takes a little work, but you just need to listen with one BGB, and connect with the other by simply attaching the port number you listened with.

VBA-Link will only support linking with GameBoy Advance games. GameBoy and GameBoy Color games are not supported. You'll have to use TGB for that.
He's talking about BGB, not VBA Link:
http://bgb.bircd.org/
KiGB also has link support:

I just tried running 2 KiGB on the same comp, and it seemed to work--it said I was connected anyway.

I saw the edit after I posted that. I just couldn't think of how to change it so I left it so at least someone would find it useful.
