    Default PS2 Backups Help

hey all, i recently burnt star ocean 3 for PS2, it seems to work fine but when i get to the battle simulator , after you finish some battles it goes to load the world again, it just stays black and doesnt load i guess, any suggestions how i could fix it? could it have been a bad burn?

If it were a bad burn, I would think it would fail to load at all. My guess is the ISO was broken when it was ripped. You're playing it on a PS2, and not an emulator, right?

    According to RPG gamer:

This was the case with Enix's recently released Star Ocean 3: Till the End of Time, which featured its own lock-up bug appearing during battles. Enix has remedied that problem by distributing a new bug-free version of Star Ocean 3 and offering free replacement disks for the unlucky recipients of the previous version.

It could be that you've burnt a version of the game that had the lock-up bug, which seems to be the case as it happens during battles. I guess your best bet would be to search for a version of the game that is confirmed to be bug-free.

The PAL version released by Ubisoft does not have this bug I believe. I've played through it very many times. Possibly my most played PS2 game. You could try that one, if you're fine with PAL games

imm in australia so im pretty sure im using the pal version by ubisoft, ona PS2.

when the screen goes black, its not actually during battle, but after you get the xp/money right before it goes to where you walk around with your character

The buggy version was the first japanese release, i have a copy myself.

Your problem seems that rely in the dvd media that you are using.

oh il try with a good brand and see what happens

also strange thing, if i run away from the battle it loads, but if i win the battle it does'nt.

edit:Final Fantasy 12 runs fine on the media im using right now(from what i can tell), could i miss any of the games content because its on bad media?(without me knowing)

Aside than the game not running at all, skipping videos or musics, that's the content that could be affected if you use bad media.

Yeah, there is. If your copy of FF XII is working so far with no major probs with that media, go ahead and continue playing it.
When you have other games to burn, try different brands till you find the best working for you.

i just realised that star ocean 3 (disc1) is 4.33GB wheras the disc im using to boot it (FFX) is only 4.28GB (i use the COGSWAP method). Do you think that has something to do with it?
When you use the COGSWAP method the disc you use to boot with is supposed to be bigger than the burnt game

Ah, that explains it. Yeah, you need a game with a bigger TOC, check this list to know which ones could do it:
