Not many of the current members really make great threads either. Those listed aren't the only members capable of making good threads.

While that's true, I think the majority of great posts and/or threads made over the course of my stay were made by those people listed. And a few I'm likely forgetting.

Current members could make threads I suppose, but it seems like a lot of threads die off now. Sure some of that's the dropped quality, but I think with the right posters (and a couple crazy newbies to argue with/flame) they could've at least made it past 1-2 pages.

I think the flame/spam is the problem. Almost every thread turns into a UR MOM / FAG -fest, just like the Hangout. Sure it was funny for a while, but really, all the jokes about mom's and girlfriends and all that....it gets old. After the threads spiral down into a Hangout replacement, we close them. That's why the majority of threads pirates referenced are closed. (Or they are just old enough to auto close)

Quality threads require quality posts, and UR MOM doesn't qualify.

uh, I meant those debates and discussions as well as the flamings and stuff. Some of the better threads were able to contain both, and still get things done.

Plus it's threads like that which probably created a couple of ep's hangout addicts. It slowly lets the newbies get an idea of how things run around here. Then they can get into the hangout without getting eaten alive. Which seems to be an issue lately. *cough*

But that's not how things are supposed to run around here. The Hangout is the place for that, and when a thread becomes useless Hangout fodder, it's killed.

Indeed. I was looking at threads from when I first registered, some into 2004-5, and the threads were better. Too bad some of the current regulars don't/can't/choose not to produce quality threads. :\

The lack of interesting people comes from the lack of new people being accepted. Currently we have a problem with new members coming in and being instantly attacked. They hang around long enough to find out what people think about their moms, and they leave, saying "fuck this place, they're all assholes".

Thus, nothing new gets introduced.
