Default Tear Ring Saga -- New PSX Game Translation Project

Tear Ring Saga is a strategy RPG similar to Fire Emblem (both created by the same guy) that was never released outside Japan.
But now there's a group that's making a translation patch for it, but they need translators.

Check out the screenshots on this page to see what they've done so far:
    http://www.ayashii.com/tear/

I know we have some people here who know Japanese--that's part of the reason I'm posting this.

Wow. I played this ages ago when I was all into the Japanese Fire Emblem games. Didn't think anyone else knew about it. XD

Past announcements of Translation projects have always gone in EE.

I guess it's because anything related to ISO's goes in EE, and you need to make an ISO to apply the patch.

    Indeed.

The game looks nice. Graphically speaking.

Oh.. my.. fucking.. holy.. shitface.. wang.

This is pretty much spam, but I had no idea that game existed, and it looks so damn awesome. They better finish that!

I don't know you, you're not my friend.

    I'm full of good ideas..

Ah, I downloaded this about two years ago because I knew it was an RPG, but didn't know anything else about it, and I never even bothered to extract or test it. Looks nice, though, in an extremely Fire Emblem-ripoffy way. Maybe I'll finally give it a go.

I'd volunteer to help with translation, but... 'Sample of your work'? 'Serious inquiries only'? Sounds um...a little bit daunting for me at the moment. Not sure I trust my knowledge of Japanese enough yet. I'd be too worried that I'd made a bunch of mistakes.

I always see and read these posts about great japanese game translations but I've never seen any of them done for the PSX. I never come across translation postingd that are done. Every post is like it is promising.

Not to sound like I'm dissing it or anything I'm not, b/c I'd love to play more games for PSX, but I really don't hold my breathe anymore.

Uh, there are some parts that I don't understand though..

Hacking = 90% done. Does that mean that they've prepared 90% of the dialouge/story/whatever for translation, and if so, how far along in translating are they?

Also, why doesn't Tear Ring have an entry on Romhacking? =/

No, that means that they´re improving making the tables and reinserting the script, mainly the difficult part in translations are the script reinsert and the words/spaces byte issues.

Doesn't that mean that they're preparing it, before they can translate it to english?

    Yeah, I'm kinda dumb.

The news is on RomHacking's front page, so it's brand new.

The guy who's translating Persona 2: Innocent Sin went on RomHacking's board to inform them of his project around the summer of last year.

And they still haven't added an entry for Persona 2 yet.

So, who knows when they'll add an entry for Tear Ring Saga.

well actually they translated some script and reinserted it ok as you see in the screenshots, maybe they are focusing just now in translating the remaining script, this could be fast or slow (they can have great translators) (i think this is the case), only time will tell, usually these ppl got help from other translators that have projects too

Yeah, I noticed, it's just that.. well, if they're almost done with the hacking they should've added an entry already. I didn't know they were that slow though, I just don't want this to be a delayed april fools joke or anything.

Exactly, which is why I asked how far along they were, not that anyone here can answer that.

Sorry, I'm just being paranoid and silly here.

I played this game almost 3 yrs ago, don't really care much for it now but it would be nice to see it in English. I can try to translate, but I'm probably only at ~5% fluency. I got Japanese friends, I'll see what they can do.

BTW: Most of my Jap friends aren't really to good at Eng.
