How can I change controller ports?

I'm playig Metal Gear Solid and I'm faced with a problem. In order to kill someone you have to change what controller port you're using. I have to take the controller out of slot one and put in sot two in other words. Any idea how t do this? I was thiking maybe I could just make a savestate and close ePSXe and mess with config then reload the state on controller two?

Map the buttons for controller 2 as the same layout with controller 1, then disable controller 1. problem solved.

How is that a spoiler? You know pretty much from the moment you meet him that Mantis is a villain. Plus the game itself gives you the controller port swapping tip, you don't have to work it out for yourself.

Indeed. I wouldn't have found it to be a spoiler. Oh and another noobish issue. The audfio/video is all screwed up when it goes into a scene where they talk. First it was ak because they just said everything twice. Now they say everything about 6 times and I can't stand it anymore.

The only way I've gotten this game to play right is by using pSX The Emulator. I've had this same problem with ePSXe but I just gave up on it. I guess I could try and find a good sound fix for it after all these years unless someone beats me to it.

To fix crappy audio and video playback use ePSXe v1.6 and use ePSXe's sound core or you could continue to use ePSXe v1.5.2 and use ePSXe's sound core since its the same in both versions. I know this sound core works b/c I beat the game with it.

P.S. You could beat him with the controller in port 1 still but it takes a gauranteed 2 hours. (Minimum) I tired it that way the first time I faced him.

Well since Ktiger already gave you the answer you were looking for then I guess there's not much point now. After all these years of having the image of the game I've never actually played it past the first area.
