Default Xbox Samsung Drive (Does not read Homebrew DVDR)

    XBox - 2003 - Samsung DVD-ROM drive - Softmodded

    - Does not read homebrew discs, example N64 disc with loads of ROMs. Says "Unknown" and will not let me boot it.
    - Does read games however.
    - My old Xbox from 2005 - Samsung drive booted these very discs, so why won't this one?

Different DVD-R brand? Bet it's same brand.
You fucked up making the xiso? Bet you downloaded a premade xiso.
Bad burn? This is it I bet.

Just a heads up, n64 emulation isn't too great on xbox.

Oh and there are a couple different versions of the samsung dvd drive in xboxes

If you're sure they worked in your old box.. burn new discs.

    No DVDRs left...
Actually I remember there's a mix of Tesco/Emtec (Both plus discs burnt at 8x)

I'm gutted, cos one of the discs is BAED #1

May be something is wrong with your laser. Try cleaning it and using those discs again, but then again, you said your games worked fine, so.....I don't know

This same thing happens to me sometimes on my PS2. It just won't boot Ulaunch discs or SMS Media Player discs (sometimes even Gameshark and Codebreaker discs) but would boot DVD game discs just fine , which makes me think may be something is wrong with my laser and when I clean it using the DVD Lens Cleaner disc, sometimes they do work

Edit: Also I've seen a remarkable difference in boot rate of discs burned at various burn speeds. Discs burned at 1x had a very high possibility of booting up than those ones burned at 2.4x or 4x
