    Default ROM Help!

Hey, I just started with ROMs yesturday, so I might be pretty nub...

Overnight I used Flashget to download about five games from EMUParadise. (Of course one by one.)

When I woke up the downloads were done, and there were files on my desktop.

The files were in a unknown format, yeah. So pretty much all the files look like this:

And when I use VisualBoyAdvance to try to open these, the files don't show.

So any idea on how to fix this? I might be overlooking something obvious, but yeah, thanks in advance.

What file extension is it? & have you tried to use Winrar for example to decompress it to get the file contained inside?

The GBA roms here are compressed to rar.
VBA can play roms in zip files, but not rar files.

So, you have to extract the roms from the rar files using either WinRar or 7-Zip:

Show file extensions and rename the end part (.rar) to .zip, then all's good.

    It doesn't work that way.

zip and rar are two different compression formats.

No can do buddy. It's a compression method. Changing the extension won't do anything. gotta unrar it.

Oh well. It worked renaming .ACE to .RAR.

I have WinRar, but how exactly do I decompress it?

    Yeah I suck at this.

Open Winrar, and drag-and-drop the file into it, then Extract.

    edit--
Had to edit it NecroSnake, since SupaK's reply made what I originally typed rather pointless.

Just open the file with winrar and click wizard. It'll do all the work for you.

    EDIT: Seggy edited his post...

    Thanks guys, works now.

What I was doing was right clicking -> Add to archive then extracting it, I thought it was the same thing, but this method actually works.

    Thanks!
