how close are they to creating a PS2 emulator that can run a decent number of games?

close isn't the word. shit snes still isn't perfected, so i'd say about 5-8 years after the system is fucking dead. so 7 or 6 years from now.
Also, you know United Abominations is gonna suck ass, Sleepwalker and Gears of Wars don't sound so fucking great and defintely not RIP material, Megadeth sucks with out Ellefson.

PCSX2, to my knowledge it runs a few games.
i couldnt get PCSX2 to work, but then again i barely tried. PS2 emulators arent that important to get being as i have a ps2 already. I asked that more out of curiosity, but it would be nice to have since i have yet to mod my ps2
You're gonna need;
Intel Core 2 Duo / AMD Althon X2
1GB DDR2 RAM
256MB (Pixel Shader 3.0 compliant) graphics card
why do i need such good stuff?
my comp has:
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ (AM2 socket)
nVidia GeForce 7300 GS graphics card (i dont know what the Pixel Shader part is)
only 512 DDR2
Lol
Because it's a new system and the emulators are computer hungry atm.
slightly off topic, what is that pixel shader business?
Pixel Shader defines how good it is, or some shit like that.
my 4 year old Ati Radeon 9250 has a 1.3 ps
newer cards have 3.0 shader
Graphics Bus Technology.........PCI Express
Memory Interface..................64-bit
Memory Bandwidth.................6.5GB/s
Fill Rate...............................2.2 Billion pixels/sec
Vertices/Second (Millions).......413
RAMDACs.............................400MHz
thats what the nVidia site had about the card.
I found this on google:
As with all current and last generation NVIDIA products there is full support for DirectX 9 and Shader Model 3.0
im guessing Shader Model might be the same as pixel shader?

So far the only game I've been able to "play" in pcsx2 is Kingdom Hearts. You can see just how well it runs on my computer if you watch the videos I have on YouTube.
(There I go promoting myself again. Bad Haldrie.)
