    Question Best NES emulator?

Can anyone give me a recommendation for the best NES emulator that doesn't involve DOS (running Win XP)? I've been having a kind of difficult time finding a reliable one.

I remember using nesten and nesticle, those worked fine. Don't know if they're the best.

    They're not anymore.

Although they're both still pretty good.

Nintendulator is the most accurate nes emulator. That's according to the devs over at nesdev.parodius.com who use it for testing their games.

You seem to be right about the accuracy anyway.

It wouldn't play the rom I tested it with because of garbage in the rom's header.
I had to use GoodNES to fix the rom's header first, then Nintendulator played it.

On the other hand, Nestopia, FCE Ultra, VirtuaNES, UberNES, and NNNesterJ all let me play the rom with the bad header--although Nestopia, VirtuaNES warned that the rom had a bad header before starting it.

With all the NES roms floating around with crap in their headers, Nintendulator isn't very newb friendly.

What about the REW emu or how it was called yknow the one with the Gameboy and NES emu in one, no need to change settings well perhaps the buttonconfig to your own liking, besides that works pretty damn good, too bad for the NES no load/save states (Perhaps they have that now since the last time I used it was like 3-4 years ago)

REW hasn't been updated since 2000.
So nothing has changed since then.

There are better emulators now, but I remember that one being OK.
But if you prefer it or like it, then use it.

I like FCE Ultra the best.
Never really have to configure anything for that one either, other than the gamepad settings.
Has speed up/speed down which comes in handy, and it can load any rom regardless of what's in that rom's header (a few NES emu's won't play roms that don't have proper headers)

    If portability isn't a problem , I'd definitely say Nestopia.Overall a excellent emulator. It's a shame they removed 2xsai filters in latest release, so I'm using 1.35
