    Actually you can if your DC is a PAL console or a NTSC made before Oct 2000, they'll run backups properly burned without probs.

    They will only run backups that are made selfbootable or if you use a boot disc that you can download from many places around the internet. The most popular boot disc is called Utopia.

    No dreamcast was not ment to play CD-R's, but coders found a loop hole that the Dreamcast team didn't, this is why games have to have extra code in a seperate session to trick the dreamcast into booting the software.

    Without the extra session of data and correctly hacked ip.bin and direct copy/ripped copy will not boot without help ( e.g. Utopia boot disc )

    Also later on the Dreamcasts in the US prolly Japan aswell had added protection to stop CD-R use for games.

    Nope your wrong there are 2 others that I know of ( could be more aswell ) and there are a few versions of Utopia out there ( 1.2 isn't the newest version either )
