Default Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden

I've been having an issue I can't seem to resolve with SRW @G. At first I thought it was a bad image, but it happens with every image I download.

After Scenario 31, there is a path split, the Moon or X-Point. If I pick X-Point, everything is fine until Scenario 36, "Shin Getter Robo vs Mazinkaiser." None of the 'events' that are supposed to take place within the scenario actually work. There is supposed to be a conversation between Kouji and Tetsuya when they move next to each other, which doesn't happen. You are supposed to put a unit on top of the mountain cycles to get new units, but nothing happens when you do.

So basically the scenario is broken. It happens on ePSXe, SSSPSX, and Emurayden, and again I tried different torrents for the image. I suppose there's no real way to tell if the image all come from different source, but since I also tried a Japanese tracker...

I'd like to know if there's a way to make the scenario work 'right,' if it's just an emulator bug, or if it's a bad image issue. I've already tried to pick the other path but it's pretty tedious to go through scenarios I didn't really want to play.

Did you scan the image for errors with CDMage?

I did not! That's a great program. It found 360 corrupted sectors. It couldn't fix them all but it's better than nothing.
