Default PS2 "unmodded" playing backup options

Okay, basically I want a PS2 for FFXII. It came out on friday. What PS2 would I be best getting, and how can I play backups WITHOUT buying a modchip/swap magic. I am aware of the Action Replay w/Slide tool, but the drawer doesn't come all the way out on my uncle's PS2. I don't care whether I have to take it to pieces etc, it's just a PS2... If there is no way to play backups on it I would only own 2 games...FFX and FFXII. I am guessing I would have to get a large one, Action Replay and a Cogswap ELF....And remove the lid/use a slide tool.
Okay I rambled on a bit, can any one tell me my options for either models of PS2. NON SWAP MAGIC/MODCHIP

I think you pretty much listed all your options already. I actually was going to suggest Swap Magic when I read the title but you seem to know more about playing backups then I do.

    More detail please.
I vaguley knew the options and was hoping for more detail
I don't want to use HDLoader that sounds wank, 33% of the games are compatible, and all that.

You don't have to use hdloader, use cogswap or cd loader.

More than 33% of games work off the HDD btw.

you should really look into paypal if you have a bank account, i know how your parents don't like you getting things online.

I am not old enough for PayPal
Thanks for the links guys, I'll check them out.

What are the options for a slimline, and are they easier to get to run backups without swapmagic/modchip?

Just go buy it from a store then.

    Or like we've said already:
    1. Modchip
    2. Swap Magic
    3. Exploit (fat PS2's only)

According to information freely available in the links provided to you, no, as a general rule of thumb, the exploits will not work on the slim-line PS2. Oh, and ironically enough, you need either an AR or the Swap Magic disks to even do the exploit. Or a USB Flash Drive. Maybe an original PSX disk. And possibly a PS2 HDD.

    Good luck.

EDIT: You're not old enough for Paypal? Do you have a bank account? If you do, then age doesn't factor into it, as far as I know...

    Well
Without buying crap I have access to
AR:Max - old disc....Does not have "Media Centre" etc
    USB Flash Drive
    Original PSX disc.

    No PS2 HDD however.
