Default Final Fantasy VII - Cosmo Canyon Universe-thing-movie doesn't work :(

    Well...my first post.

Anyway, I just got my hands on some fresh images of Final Fantasy VII.
And at the movie, when the old man shows my party the universe with his machine (the part when the earth is shown and that little human on the top and the tree and so on...I hope you know what I mean. The filename is BOOGSTAR.STR) the movie starts stuttering and then it just stops playing. I can't got any further.

I burned the image of CD1 several times (13 times ) with various programs and settings. Nothing helps. Is there any way to repair or just skip that damn movie?

Moderation time, sorry. But this should not be here, this should be under "EVERYTHING EMULATION" and in Sony.
What emulator are you using, version, plugins, pcspec, etc? That'll go a long way.

Sounds like he's playing it on a PSX, saince he mentions burning to CD.

You could use CDMage to scan your image for errors, Vradash:

But I suggest you find another copy, like the one we have on the main site:

Ahh yes. Get another image, if you're playing on console your laser might be a bit fecked also.
Try it upside down/on it's side (If you're playing it on a console) if not ignore all of what I said

    Thanks for your replies.

The problem is: I'm from germany and I don't want the US-version.

CDMage found some errors, but they were not in boogstar.str.
I repaired them anyway. And upside down...doesn't work.

And the laser? That's possible...my PSX is about 5 years old...if not even longer.
But I don't think my PSX is worth buying a new laser. (That one costs about 25 Euros)

And Final Fantasy VII completely new costs about 50 Euros. (No, not the original version. Platinum. The original version goes on ebay out for about 120 Euros.)

It might be that your CD burner does not work well with PSX games. I have had this same problem when burning perfect images of Final Fantasy IX [NTSC U/C]. Of course it happens both when I run it on a real PlayStation and in an emulator on my PC so I've just been running it as an image.

Here's the German version of FF7; I believe the links are all still good:

Copy and paste each link one at a time into your browser to download.

More German PSX games here (including FF8 & FF9)

It doesn't happen in an emu.

Thanks for the links, Segnin...but they are all down.

Kay, I decided to buy a new laser unit. Has been reduced to 20 Euros in my favourite online shop.

I think this thread can be closed.
