    Default Sonic Adventure . . .

I downloaded Sonic Adventure last night, and... What i have now in the folder after it's done downloading is Sonic.Adventure.Selfboot.z7 through Sonic.Adventure.Selfboot.z7(incomplete grab).43. This consists of 43 files . . . 1-43. Then a final file Sonic.Adventure.Selfboot.sfv. When i try to open it with winrar it says unknown file type. Any ideas?

    www.7-zip.org
you need that to open that file extension
    "7z.001" is 7zip
    ".001" is WinRAR.

The .sfv file is there to verify the integrity of the other compressed files, it's not part of the game itself. If the game won't extract, it will tell you what part is corrupt so you don't have to dl all the files again.
There are many programs to open sfv files, moosfv, sfvchecker...

Oh I didn't realise they were opening teh SFV with WINRAR. Yeah as Cookie said SFVs check the file's CRCs. QuickSFV: http://www.quicksfv.org/download.html
Open .7z.001 with 7-zip to extract the archive.

Sadly enough, out of all of the time that i've been working with emulation, i have never even heard of 7zip... That worked though! thanks a million!

It compresses images a lot better than WinRAR, much becoming the newest craze of compression. Also used to Goodmerge ROM sets too, as it can really make them a lot smaller. Get used to it you'll be using it a lot now.

I hardly ever use 7-Zip, and in fact, I don't even have it installed. As far as compressing DC ISOs, for me, 7z never really compressed any more than WinRar, and only leads to confusion with new users; hence this thread.

I don't compress with it either. I only have it installed for de-compression. (WinRAR supports .7z now, doesn't support .7z.001 I don't think though)
I much prefer WinRAR, it doesn't REQUIRE a dual core processor so that you can compress.

WinRAR supports split 7z archives it just doesn't associate with them and it's a little tricky trying to get it to open them in the first place.
