    Default Recommend a band

This is a thread in my attempt to add life to this section This thread is to show off bands you know that might interest others, just a few ground rules though

    1. Try to make sure that you don't do a band that is already up
    2. Opinions about bands are welcomed (gives other people a more varied idea about them)
    3. Try to note the genre of the band (I know this might annoy some people )
    4. expanding on rule 3, have the band set like this

    ________________

    Name/Country/Genre - Website

Your take (if you want to, you can just include basic info)
    ________________

    I'll start for example

    Porcupine Tree/England/Progressive-Ambient-Experimental www.porcupinetree.com

This band is a very chilled out band and got a lot more heavier in their later albums, certainly recommended for people who appreciate lighter stuff (crap review I know but yeah)

    Solitude Aeturnus (Texas/USA)
    http://www.eternalsolitude.com/
    80's doom metal

A remarkable yet tragically under-rated doom band. Fans of Candlemass know what to expect, mid/slow tempo crushing riffs and highly operatic male vocals. Strongly recommended for metalheads, doomsters and any fan of mid tempo music.

A brilliant little pop-punk band on Asian Man (which is totally cool). They're alot like the Ramones, only less edgy. Punk for the fun of it, and whatnot. They recently released a new album which I have yet to listen to, but I'm sure it's just as sweet as the rest of their music. If not, I'll cry and stuff.

I don't know you, you're not my friend.

    I'm full of good ideas..

Total whoring for the sake of getting this band a bit more around but yeah I've seen them live and even got a demo off them (in my opinion some demo stuff totally kicks the ass of some "albums") but yeah they have an album coming up soon enough which I would like to see

    Xentrix (UK)
    http://www.xentrix.co.uk/
    thrash metal

A thrash band I hear about lots but recently discovered. Mix a little of Metallica, Artillery, Forbidden and some Megadeth and Xentrix is what you'll have. Very Bay Area-ish sound they have going it's a surprise they're from the UK.

Don't forget to add a dash of Ray Parker Jr, Xentrix's Ghostbusters cover for the win!

    Edit: Might make a reccomendation

    Mortal Sin (Australia)

Remind me of Xentrix a fair bit actually, and very influenced by the bay-area sound. The 1st 2 albums 'Mayhemic Destruction' and 'Face of Despair' are their best, the 3rd album is a little poor so tend to avoid that (the only original member was the bassist). Got a new album coming out April/May, and is sounding pretty good going off what I've heard of it live. Songs to check out: Lebanon, I Am Immortal

    Rutthna
    Black Metal

An odd little BM band formed by Thyrfing drummer Jocke (although he handles guitar/bass/vocals here and not the drums), they play a melancholic and slightly epic form of black metal. Heavily influenced by both the french style (Belenos and early Mystic Forest come to mind) and the more midtempo norwegian bands, but I wouldn't call them clones of any one band in particular. Almost no blastbeast, lots of flowing midpaced guitar lines, background synths and low, throaty vocals: This is some easily listenable BM that no-one could accuse of being mainstream.

They've only released one album, Doomsdaylight, and it's pretty good, although not without one flaw: Namely that the same type of drum fill, a tom roll followed by a snare roll, keeps popping up in different songs.

The Wu-Tang clan from Staten Island, New York.
You don't listen to rap/hiphop if you don't listen to Wu-Tang.
