Default Chrono Cross Recompile block too large

I was playing chrono cross when I needed to add some codes. I use Pete's D3D plugin, so I plugged in "all characters max str" (which was preloaded), and started epsxe 1.6.0 w/ -noauto. I've looked this all up, but when I add codes, it goes beserk. just crashes on startup. I've tried DX6 and opengl, and I get the same issue. I tried 1.5.2, same issue. I literally don't have the time to put up the specs, but I will when I get back from church. Any ideas of what to do?

EDIT: tried it again with the iso, not theburned CD, same issue. I have never had this issue, so I doubt its the image. I tried it with the image and got the error messege "Opcode 3f UNK (PC 0000e208)(365614,4)". I'll be back in about 3 hours to put the specs up. thx in advance.

I'd check the ISO with CDmage for errors:

For cheating on games in ePSXe I highly recommend Playstation Emulation Cheater (PEC)

    http://www.emucheater.com/download.php

You set it as your GFX plugin on ePSXe, then it sends the codes from the GUI to the game. Lovely I think.

Let me clearify this: I've been emulating fulltime for 2 years. I've been emulating psx games since day 5. with using pec at that. PEC has been the forefront of many problems for me, but this has been the biggest problem of yet. its getting really irritating when it starts to sound like people are just plugging PEC. its not that great. its database is lacking, and whenever i go to add codes, (pecedit, manually, in the text file) they all come with crippling side affects (i.e. all my characters in Final Fantasy tactics have infinite hp, but they ditch my team after every battle, which did not happen on the console version).

    My Specs:
    PEC v 2.5
ePSXe 1.6.0, with -noauto added to the target line
    Windows XP Professional
    Intel Pentium 4 2.00 ghz
    512 mb ram

    Plugin: Pete's D3D Driver 1.1.75
    Author: Pete Bernert
GFX card: NVIDIA Quadro4 700 GoGL (Dell Mobile)

    Resolution/Color:
    - 800x600 Fullscreen - [32 Bit]

    Textures:
    - R8G8A8A8
    - Filtering: 5
    - Hi-Res textures: 0
    - VRam size: 0 MBytes

    Framerate:
    - FPS limit: on
    - Frame skipping: on
    - FPS limit: Auto

    Compatibility:
    - Offscreen drawing: 2
    - Framebuffer texture: 1
    - Framebuffer access: 0
    - Alpha multipass: off
    - Mask bit: off
    - Advanced blending: hardware

    Misc:
    - Scanlines: off [0]
    - Unfiltered FB: off
    - Dithering: off
    - Screen smoothing: off
    - Full vram: off
    - Game fixes: on [00000800]

I'm going to say this now: I know I can use opengl, I know it can probably make better graphics. But, I know how to use this plugin, and for the most part, I can troubleshoot it. unless it has to do with compatibility issues, please don't bring up the idea of me switching....

    1.175?

When was the last time you updated your plugin?

The current D3D one is 1.76, which you can get from here:
    http://www.pbernert.com/html/gpu.htm#OGL

In the plugin selection menu, it's named Pete's D3D Driver 1.76.

The DX6 one is an older version.

Also for Chrono Cross, it's recommended you use ePSXe 1.5.2 with the Odd/even bit hack enabled under Special Game fixes.

    Get ePSXe 1.5.2 from here:
    http://www.epsxe.com/files/epsxe152.zip

ok... used cdmage..... no errors. I'm gonna try the new plugin, but does anyone have any other ideas?

EDIT: I tried the new plugin, and still, the same issue. "recompile block too large". Any new ideas?

Yeah, use another emulator or ePSXe 1.52 with the special fix. ePSXe 1.6 hates Chrono Cross, with or without cheats.
As I was walking down the stair,
    I met a man who wasn't there.
    He wasn't there again today.
    I wish, I wish he'd go away.
