Default Guys which is the best 64 emulator?

I am torn between 1964 and Project64 which is the best?
My computer is really really good, bought it last week, so performance is no problem.

I haven't used 1964 in a while, but all the games I play are compatible with PJ64. Just use one, and if a game isn't compatible, try it on the other.

Yeah, I've got both 1964 and project 64. P64 is more compatible with more games as far as I've played, but occasionally 1964 will play something better. It's also less resource-heavy, if you've got an old computer.

I remember having both 1964 and Project 64. 1964 never worked for me, while the (then) newer version of Pj64 caused some problems for me. So, I had to dig out the older version and everything worked fine
Seems no one else experienced this problem.

I personally prefer PJ64, b/c there is a site out there that shows every rom and the plugins need to run those roms if necessary. So yeah. I use PJ64 as my default b/c I found that fansite with the rom compatibilities and such but I've found 3 roms to only worked with 1964 so I'm kinda stuck.

Word of advice save often, b/c 1964 crashes every so often after a few hours of running it. (Liike on a crucial level in Perfect Dark ) PJ64 does not.

My most recent experience with 1964 was trying to run Majora's Mask in it. Yeah... that didn't go so well. The last time I saw a game glitch out like that was when I tried to run Clive Barker's undying in DirectX using a Voodoo Banshee card.
Lets try out a few ROMs I have on hand...
    Paper Mario: no sound
Perfect Dark: BAD graphical glitches. 1964 really doesn't like generating walls and floors.
Starfox 64: Sound is a loud grounding grating noise.
Sin and Punishment: black lines and artifacts all over the screen, and the same problems as Perfect Dark and Majora's Mask.
    Quake 64: Same problems
    Super Mario 64: Same problems
...yeah, 1964 needs some work. Maybe I just don't have it set up or something? I just reinstalled it recently, though, it's on it's default installation atm. The only reason I've ever really used it is to play Duke Nukem: Zero Hour won't run right in P64 (crashes when you try to move on past the training level), but now it's having the same graphical problems as the rest. I just tried running the Jabo's Direct3d8 plugin in 1964, replacing it's default one "Rice's Deadalus". The games now display just fine, so it looks like it's just Rice's plugin that was the problem. Still other problems, though. In MM, as soon as you gain control of link he dies then the level restarts, and in your inventory is full to the brim with copies of the ocarina but you don't have your sword or shield.

also. lol. after 4 years PJ 64 literally fried my controller I was testing some more romz in PJ64 and all of the sudden it stopped working for life. It killed my controller. It wasn't my use of the controller I never abused or beat on it. So I blame the emulator for my hardware malfunction. Cost me 20 bux US to replace.

I suppose it doesn't really matter does it, I mean you don't need an "ub3r 1337" PC to emulate the N64.

You should get both anyway along with Mupen64 since they're all required to run certain games. You check the best configuration settings here:

I have Mupen 64 on my computer and it refuses to start any game. It crashes whenever I try to load a rom.
