Counter Strike Source and related source games
I just tried to google for the answer for this with no luck so here goes:
Do you ever play these games and just want to have a quick game, but then when you join a server you wait LIKE 5 FUCKING MINUTES for custom sounds to download from the server (and lets take the time to note that they are ALWAYS fucking annoying anyway)
so.. does anyone here know a way to stop these downloading?

Setting to "read" only doesn't work either, however maybe everyone at EP should email valve and ask for a feature to turn off mp3/wav downloads.

Add this line to your autoexec.cfg file in the CS: Source directory:
cl_downloadfilter "nosounds"

Try typing cl_allowdownload 0 in console, or something like that.

I think its cause they use some sort of custom admin mod or something so maybe the mod itsef has client files you can manually download somewhere.. but honestly it's probably easier just to download it all cause I know for a fact its not always only sounds... lots of it is admin skins and custom files which bare no meaning to the game.
so just go take a break... eat some cookies or something while it downloads.. thats what I do
