I know plenty of straight girl gamers, especially in the local scene around here. Though I also know a few who tell people they're gay so that the drooling boy geek population doesn't smoother them with unwanted attention XD
But for the record, yes I'm gay, and yes I'm a gamer. I also happen to work in a games store. But none of the above are really related to each other in any unseen way.

This is a video game forum, moreso a video game emulation forum. There is some really highly technical stuff here, and dare I say it's rarely what heterosexual girls are fond of. You need a certain mindset for it. Anyway the 95% was an exaggeration, but I wouldn't say there's more straight girls on video game forums than gay ones. If there is, then it's at least a very close race.

Don't worry about that "95%" comment; three out of five statistics are made up on the spot. Besides, the other forums I go to had only one gay female gamer; the other females were all heterosexual, so a single case exemplar can put paid to his idea. And if we did the math here, it's two gay females out of a larger female population (I think) than that forum, giving a second example. Granted, I don't really know any gamers around here, so I can't give a physical example like you can.

EDIT: Noticing KoN's clarification (I missed page 5? Horrors)...I doubt that. I doubt that greatly. You may not say that, but I certainly would.

Mm, well it may be the assumptions stem from changing cultural tide. A lot of gay girls are already very open minded—this isn't to say you have to be to be gay, or vice versa—but like everyone's said, girls are coming around as gamers, yes, even hardcore technical detail ones. There's just such a vast number of guys, they become a kind of rarity (or even don't exist on the interweb!). So yeah. For the topic's sake, I present more pictures of my gamer girl <3
