Big Changes about to Happen..!

Well, seriously, I think you guys should be the first to know. There are going to be some big changes here at the EP Forums.

First on the agenda is the transition to epforums.org, which should be taking place sometime very soon. People who cannot let go of the past will still be able to access forums.emuparadise.org =P.

Second, is the move to Malaysia. Yeah, the server is going to be relocated. We're having a lot of trouble with the ESA recently, and I feel it's better we're based in a place pretty much inaccessible to them. This too should be happening soon.

Thirdly, we're going to change to a portal system (vb-based) which will allow our members to write articles and publish them on the forum homepage, much like vbulletin.org or sitepoint.com.

Anyway, that's the gist of it. Questions ? Feel free to ask.

Hmm. will it take more than a few hours to move??
I'm asking cause some sites move takes only few hours and some
for of them it takes weeks. and considering EP is popular
it could be a pain...anyway if loading times for the forums will be better
it'll serve good for everyone.

There will be some minor downtime during the move. Around an hour or so, tops. This is just the forums. Every part of the site is moving to Asia, but they'll be moving at different times, since servers will be provisioned seperately..

I can't say much about loading times, server response will be faster, but since data will have to travel a longer distance to most of our US/EU visitors, it's uncertain what kind of speeds you can expect. Since the forums will be on their own dedicated server (no New Releases Section to bog them down..), things should be much smoother than right now.

Warez won't be allowed.. =P.

what is vb-based?,please,don't tell me is something that requieres the latest ie
for the latest version of NT for the latest 64 bit processor,
please,tell me it's going to run in an older browser (ie4/5/6 or netscape 4.x or 6)
in a regular 32 bit pc (as in NOT amd64) with a DOS operating system,aka win9x,
(as in NOT nt/2000/xp/2003/vista)

Lol. It's web based, will run in any browser, vb means vbulletin =P, that's our forum system.
