    Default Disk Drive Help

    OK here's my problem.

Norton 2006 screwd my computer to the point were I couldn't hardly do anything. I took it to Geek Squad (because of warranty) and they told me that in order to get rid of everything that Norton did to my computer I would have to do a complete system reinstall. I did the reinstall, got all of the windows updates that I needed, and now I have more drives than I started out with (I think).

    Now for my question:
Would it hurt anything if I deleted some of the drives? Below is a list of the drives that I am wanting to delete

    F: MMC/SD
    G: CompactFlashI/II
    H: CompactFlas
    I: MS/MS Pro
    J: DVD Drive

    What drives can/can't I delete?

    Ummm....You can't delete any.

But the ones that are HDD partitions you can re-pertition to the main partition.

What about F & J? Before I did the reinstall F was Daemon Tools and J didn't even exist.

    Well it depends...

I've never used Daemon tools, but I'd say you can go into Damon tools and disable the emulated drive, and what sort of drive is J? Does it have a label?

The problem with Daemon is I don't have it on my computer anymore so I wanted to delete the F drive and the only thing that J says is "DVD Drive". I don't know what it is or why it is their. The picture beside of the J drive is a CD drive but I have drives D & E for that sort of thing.

those drives are your media reader slots. You don't want to delete them (unless you dont want to use your media reader)

Your daemon tools drive is the very last one, J.
If you simply want their letters to be different you can do that from msft disk management
Start > My computer > (right click) > manage > disk management

    <font style="filter:glow(color=#ff0000, strength=3);height=1px">
If the enemy is in sight, so are you.</font>

So if Daemon is J, why does it say DVD Drive? & what could F be?

sniperrfl1011 is thinking that J: is your Daemon Tools VirtualDrive. I agree.
It shows up as a DVD/CD Drive to Windows.

F: through I: are Memory Card Slots.

F: seems to be for SecureDigital cards. (or whatever)
