    Default Favourite live recordings.

I know a lot of people here like to collect live recordings, both official and bootlegged. I thought it'd be cool to have a thread in which we can recommend some of our favourites. Go on, you know you want to. Here are a few of mine:

    1) Faith No More - Bizarre Festival, 16/08/1997 (DVD)
    2) Led Zeppelin - How The West Was Won
    3) Jeff Buckley - Glastonbury Festival, 24/06/1995
    4) Nirvana - Reading Festival, 30/08/1992
    5) Death Cab For Cutie - Philadelphia, 13/03/2002

    Pearl Jam - Anything!
Immortal - Some live video I have from around 2002.
Sepultura - Live in Barcelona 1992 video. Fuckin great sound, performance and camera shots.
Slayer - Some old live bootleg I have.
    Manowar - Anything.
In Flames - Live in 1995(quite possibly the only worthwhile live recording they've ever done).
Morbid Angel - Live in Quebec, 1998(especially the video for it, but the bootleg itself is cool).
Amon Amarth - Live in Rekyavik, Iceland(video). Super close up, great performance.
Carcass - Wake Up and Smell the Carcass.
    Napalm Death - Harmony Corruption.
    Megadeth - Rude Awakening.

Blind Guardian - Imaginations Through the Looking Glass (solid performance by the entire band, only annoyance is that all the talk in between songs was in German.)
Judas Priest - Live in London (the band was in top shape, and Owens displayed his full potential in that show. The guy doesn't get enough credit.)
Carcass - Wake Up and Smell The Carcass
Gamma Ray - Lust for Live (Excellent show. Ralf Scheepers should be shot though.)

the Beatles - At the Hollywood Bowl.
The official LP is great, but I really recommend getting the bootleg recordings too,so you'll get the songs that are not included in the official LP. grrr, stupid company, they should have made a double set LP with all the songs!. btw,the versions of "can't buy me love" and "a hard day's night" are by far superior to the ones included in the official LP .oh,they were 3 concerts in the same place, that's why there are different versions of each song. This album has great performances, the concerts were amazing, they rocked!!,so,if you want to know what The Beatles could do on stage,
listen to this, their live perfomances were by far better and more powerful than the studio ones,I wish they played like that in the studio!.

Paul McCartney - Back in the US (official)
Paul McCartney - Live in Red Square / Live in St Petersburg (official?)

I think that's the way The Beatles would be sounding like today,Paul's band since
2001 (rusty anderson and bryan ray on guitars, abe laboriel jr on drums and wix wickens
on keyboards) is amazing, they rock, they're his best band so far,and I wish they
keep playing together, finally,a band that feels like it and not just like "the session
musicians that play with paul",they remind me of The Beatles in some ways,
the energy, they are friends not just co-workers,the good vibe on stage...anyway,
a great band,we don't have The Beatles now,but this is as close as it gets.

I'm going to have to go with anything Ben Gibbard Live.

For those who don't know, hes the lead singer of "The Postal Service" and "Death Cab For Cutie."

He has multiple songs that are covers of other bands and they are hilarious. He covered an avril lavinge song(Sorry can't spell her name hah), Michael Jackson's Thriller, Backstreet Boys' I want it that way, and more.

They are hilarious and you guys should definately download them.

Word! That was a good one too... Wait a sec, it's not the same recording as the one on their DVD right? 'Cause Hansi's performance on their live DVD was pretty uninspired, but their live CD Tokyo Tales was fuckin badass.

No one has mentioned a single one of Pearl Jam's seemingly endless list of flawless live recordings? What is wrong with you people?

I dont' really have a favorite live recording, but there is one that I hate.

Queen, while being one of my favorite bands, is not a very good live band at all. They butcher their songs a lot! The even left entire versus out of the Bohemian Rhapsody and let the audience sing more then half of it without even uttering a word.

I have several Pantera live bootlegs that have great sound quality. Man the one called Black Tooth is hilarious.

"Thank you everybody. Hail Satan. Go see Saxon... DENIM AND LEATHER! Hail Satan. We'll see you next year, smoke acid!"

    Phil's drunken ramblings are godly.

Sodom's VHS Mortal Way Of Live is fucking great as well...
    Vae Victus!

Sacrifices have been made, thunder and lightning appear
Rejoice in hideous blasphemy, know that the time is near
The chosen hail their master well, lusting for hate and scorn

That's the one. The Valhalla chanting was the highlight of that show.

ozzy + randy rhoads, the tribute album was great. alot of the tracks were superior to their studio counter parts.

i also prefer the live performances of slunk, siva, soma, and i am one by the smashing pumpkins from their viephoria live dvd. I think they were better live then in studio because of the increase in sound and energy.
