Default Chrono Cross... Will it ever work? plz read...

Ok, i've downloaded the version off of this site, as well as from 2 different torrents. Every single one does the same thing. i extract it and run it in ePSXe. The game works fine but when i get to the start up screen and it has kid in the background and says "vibration - on or off" i pick one of the 2 and the screen goes black as if the game is about to start, but nothing ever happens, it remains black. Anyone else getting this? and if you have have you found a solution? if so please say here, thanks in advance!
