My CD drive suddenly stopped working

A couple of days ago I wanted to copy some files from a CD onto my computer. The last file I tried to copy, there must have been some sort of difficulty because it took some 10-20 minutes to copy, while the others only too a minute. (the files were all ~50M).

Sine then my CD drive won't read any CDs. When I insert a CD, the drive spins a couple of times, then the tray ejects. If I leave the disc on the tray, after about 5 seconds, the tray gores back inside the computer by itself and the whole process repeats. That last part is pretty normal on my computer, whenever I eject the tray it normally retracts after a few seconds.

Does anyone have any idea what could cause this to happen, or what I could do to fix it?

they have a serious problem, when u uninstall EasyCdCreator or DirectCD, it disables the drive.

i need to reinstall windows to fix this, but i'm too lazy. for the moment, i have another computer on a network, so i just rip iso images to the network, DL em to my laptop and then mount em in daemon. lol
