this is what i own now, but i know there not the best

Grand Tursiomo 2 - PSX

It depends what kind of racing you are into... if you want simulation racing, GT2 is good. If you like racing with carts and weapons and items and stuff, Crash Team Racing is good. If you want somewhere in between where it's normal racing, but a bit more unrealistic, you probably want a Need For Speed game.

These are the ones that come to mind right now that I have tried. Some of the others mentioned sound interesting to me too, like the Crash racing games. My little descriptions beside the game titles are just what I would call them. If you need any of them let me know, I don't have all of the ones I listed but most of them.

Gran Turismo 1&2 - good simulation
Ridge Racer series - good arcade type racing
Wipeout series - fun futuristic
Jet Moto series - fun, fantasy/futuristic
Cool Boarders series - snowboarding/racing, very addictive

I've heard Vanishing Point for DC is pretty good. So is Metropolis Street Racer. Try those two. Crazy Taxi rocks, the concept is awesome .

Speed Punks for PSX is an racing game with power-ups and weapons, quite fun.

A good racing game for dc I thought was San francisco Rush, it had some good courses with loads of shortcuts and you could also do tricks in mid-air with your car
