    Red face removing echelon intro

can someone send me a link or something to to tell me how to remove the intros echelon put on their games, as they won't play in chankast simply because of the intros

Worth mentioning that only works for certain versions of the intro, later ones don't work with that method.

I was going to mention a quick and dirty tutorial for this I made quite some time back for Myst, but I realized I had lost the packaged file containing the programs necessary for the conversion. Oh well.

Name the game you are editing, as my post indicated this method doesn't work on all Echelon intros.

Cookie Monster : that "guide" is too generic and only applies to DOA2: LE
All games have their own individual 1ST_READ.BIN

As I recall, the game MUST contain the two files 1ST_READ.BIN and IP.BIN

if it's missing one of the two (usually the IP.BIN) then chelon Self-Boot method won't work. (the Fastboot program)

I know how to remove the intro from the 1ST_READ.BIN with a hex editor. It didn't always work, like Del Boy said it didn't work on the later intros. The early ones all had the same hex pattern I could spot and remove and make self-boot (if the game had an IP.BIN)

hey does anybody know where to get the selfboot programs? they all seem to have dissappeared from the net. I thankfully still have my fastboot in my PC but there were more besides it. I can't find any download link for them

    Selfboot DC
    Fastboot + Binhack
    Dir2boot
    ExoBoot

    According to tradu-france

"To launch the game, you must wait summit like 30 minutes"

yeah right, who's crazy enough to wait 30min in the first place to have figured that out?

Yeah... that guide is a little too complicated for me. I became overwhelmed the second I opened up HEdit.

I didn't think people would have so much trouble with hex editing.
Anyhow, see the above semi-tutorial, all the tools you'll be needing (and MORE!) I've uploaded here, in a ZIP file.
Please note: I know NOTHING about Dreamcast games, I just followed the Echelon selfbott tutorial, and hopefully re-worded it to be a bit more understandable.

Hey, do you need to remove the Echelon intro for a game if you're going to play it on an actual Dreamcast, and not Chankast?

some games have issues on the actual console if the intro is there.
A member here said that gameshark codes on Garou wouldn't work on his system because of the intro. I removed it for him and then he said the codes work.

There was also an annoying beeping noise with Unreal Tournament that kept playing until the game started, because if the intro.

These are the only cases I know of, but I'm sure there are more games out there with issues on the console because of the stupid intro. Most work fine though

In general I would say that it's a lame emulator that won't play a game simply because an intro is present? I mean, if C64 emulators worked like that, there'd be no C64 games that could be played on emulators
