Default Not in the music section cause it isn't about music...it's about life...so nah!

Yo, wat up wit da rap gangstas always talkin bout the mo money?
Got da platinum caps on de teeth an da bling a blangedy bling blang...
    Meanwhile be talking trash like:
Yo I make money and I better dan you iz...

Personally I don't like country music, but at least country music stars can spell the two letter word 'is'
And the gold or platinum teeth caps...
So if Snoop Dogg went and said it's cool to have your legs cut off at the knee caps and change your name to 'Stumpy' would that be the new 'in thang' meanwhile he's doing car commercials and playing golf!
Robert Plant (a musical god in my opinion...Led Zeppelin for those who may not know) didn't have to bling out his teeth and wear a 4 pound platinum dollar sign around his neck to show he had talent...he wore faded blue jeans and a torn button down shirt.
He was like 'Grunge' before 'grunge' ever existed...
Back then they called it 'Hippie'

This has nothing to do with race or color...
There are just as many wanna be white rappers, Asian rappers and who knows where they came from rappers that it isn't a 'where you come from' music anymore...
I don't care who you are...
Either you have talent or you don't.
A million gold chains don't mean you make any sense.
Some rap is good...it has a reason...you can dance to it, you can relate to it on a personal level...
    But most of it...
    Crap!
And 50 Cent being GQ Man of the Year...
I just want to congratulate 50 cent on that whole curing cancer thing he did...and saving those 34 orphans from a burning building...
Oh yah, and being sure that under priviledged people were provided with enough crack to make it through the day...

    Okay...I'm done rambling...
    As always...Smile!

Rap isn't about talent. If it was, my ears wouldn't bleed every time I listened to 50 Cent on the bus to school. It's about being cool and phat. And kids love them because they want to be cool and phat. They figure if they're 'gangsta', they'll be cool. And since being cool is all American schools are about (we rarely learn anything there), teens listen to rap, despite how inherently shitty it is. As for why kids listen to pop music, when it's neither cool nor good, I have no idea.

I suppose that's how you look at it Hijuda. I'd say the same to the dress code.

Isn't it that way with all trendy music? It has nothing to do with being good, but following the trend? Then again, isn't it that way with everything trendy? I guess it shouldn't come as much of a surprise then.

aha, damn right this doesn't belong in the music section, just like any rap doesnt need calling 'music'.

Exactly, I think all of those are negative influences...

Because that influence, fashion, the way people talk nowadays, etc. is definitely not a good thing in my opinion.

So basically what Xaenn said, yeah.

The gangster 'rap' culture has been a drain on society since it became mainstream, and commercially successful. The portrayal of murder, gangs, drugs etc as a good thing by certain 'artists' has had a very negative influence worldwide - England too has been affected with a massive increase of black-on-black crime, gang warfare and the use of weapons.

All because being a gangsta is cool.

Bollocks, says I. Take 50 Cent, for example. Glorifying the fact he was shot nine times, as if he is some sort of invicible warrior. Now, ignoring the fact that the person shooting him must have been ridiculously shite at aiming, it typifys everything that is bad about rap as a genre (including this incident in everything that he does) and rouses my hatred for the glorification of the gun culture that surrounds it.
    Touch my twat.

Why the hell is it, though? What's so cool about getting your ass shot at? If you wanna kill people, play CS Or Quake. Maybe Halo if you can't afford a decent comp. If that's not enough, get therapy.

Actually, half of he rap on the radios is basically audio porn. And raping hos, and money. Shoving into our faces the amount of money they have. And their "grill" (which, when I first heard it, thought it to mean penis.).

What kind of question is that? We hate it because its lame crap that barely deserves to even be recognized as music.

The way I see it, rap influences a majority of the people around my area to be stupid and mindless at times. No race or anything need to be said, because that's not the case. You get a couple of guys walking down the street or hallways, rapping some really fucked up rap, and I mean really. I think to myself, "wow, and I thought I smoked, but wtf were they smokin?" (not really, I don't smoke).

    Dramatization:
"Ye ye ye, dun b getn 'n ma way, ye feel me? u no i gotz lit o thang thang 2 be duing."

That one thing annoys the living shit out of me and half the people. Then what next? The next person standing there, they intentionally walk straight at them and start busting out his 'gansta' crap. So what do I do when I see some innocent little kid as the victim? The next time I see them rapping while walking, I'm walking straight at them, then we'll see who chickens out.

In my opinion, rap used to be just music, like any other music. Now, most of it is just about sex, drugs, rape, 19 inch rims, grills, booties.

    Just my little thought.

^^^It's funny because some ppl who listen to rap,say the same thing about the music you all choose to listen to.It's all about opinion, and what you just like to listen to.I wouldnt diss nobody because of the music they listen to,thats pathetic,I myself like rap and rock both,And i don't care what anyone think's.Don't be closed minded.

Not until they use the lyrics and try to make some action out of it. (which goes to all music)

Another short example. The guy was saying lyrics (I'll use phrase instead) about busting caps, while pointing his fingers towards my head. Don't get me wrong, I gotta take things easy, but that's not the case. If I even seen the guy before, for say, in my class or anywhere, it's cool, I'd go along with him. But some sucka out of no where starts poking me out of nonsense and I turn around and there's this guy breaking his lyics about murder, I... don't really take it easy on there.

(it could possibly be because I'm Asian. Some people do take me for advantage)

I'm not hating, I just dislike some of the rap that's being produced, that's all. (and I really don't mean to offend anyone. If I did, I'm sorry. )

    Well said.
Besides, I don't like country. This thing's so lame dammnit. There's no good beat behind it, and honestly that's not what makes a great party with people dancing just about everywhere. Or should I say, I don't want this type of people in my parties.
