A series that needs to be reborn is Final Fantasy. Everything after FFIX is just a partial birth abortion.

EDIT: That's my disappointment with FFX speaking... I just couldn't connect with the characters or the story in that game. Perhaps the series will get back on track with FFXII.

But you aren't paying attention. NO FFs or Marios or anything that is considered a mainstay. What you are talking about isn't a rebirth, it's a reinvention. What we mean by rebirth is more of a ressurection. You know, like Ninja Gaiden, Shinobi, Spy Hunter, etc. All classic games that they remade to be cool... except Shinobi. They fucked that one up.
