epsxe and sound

I've noticed that there isn't any sound during intros. (dbz final bout, capcom vs snk, and macross vf-x2 is all I have) is that just a fact of life with epsxe or maybe my sound plugin. I am using Pete's DSound Audio Driver 1.14. I am playing off ISOs but I have burnt vf-x2 and it does the same thing. any suggestions?

I think I've got the answer:
1. Start ePSXe
2. Click on "config", and select "sound"
3. See if the box in front of "Enable XA sound (Select to enable XA sound in MDEC) is checked, if not, check it
4. That should do it, if not, than try any of the other options
