I guess I concede that opinion plays a role in law, but some laws must go against the majority in order to protect human decency. The same people who say homosexuals are destroying the sancity of marriage said that inter-racial or black-black marriages were destroying marriage 50 years ago.

That is true, and i dont deny that the vast majority of people agianst gay marriage have no other reason to be other then pure hatred.also, it is my personal belief, and dont get all angry, but as long as the majority of people in a country have opinions, whether they be right or wrong, they government cannot create a law to go against them. It is,after all, a democracy,. And btw, I really didnt know ellen was gay. Kinda makes sense though...

True to an extent, but there is no such thing as a true democracy. We elect the lesser of 2 or more evils to make decisions for us. It's up to the lawmakers to actually propose a ban or law anyway.
