    Default WoW or Guild Wars?

I'm looking to buy a mmorpg and I wanna know which would be worth while(Lol because I'm getting tired of playing D2). I've played both WoW (for n00bs Wow = World of Warcraft) and Guild wars on a friends pc but I've never played enough to see which one I like best (cause I moved). which one should get?

If you want a short game, go guild wars. if you want something with a bit of depth that will last a little while, go WoW. If you want a real mmo, go ffxi

GW isn't a MMORPG, it's a "CORPG" (Competitive online role-playing game). If it was me, I'd choose Guild Wars. WoW just doesn't appeal to me.

I played both and I enjoyed both of them. I guess it depends what you are looking for. Personally, I liked WoW more, but that may just be me.

I'm just looking for a cool RPG game, and one that doesn't cost alot to play online (I realy think mmorpg you shouldn't have to pay for every month). Lol Borman I forgot about FFXI.

If you don't want monthly fees, it's most likely going to be Guild Wars. I haven't played MMORPGs at all, so I can't vouch for the quality of any of them, but from the three, only Guild Wars has no monthly fees AFAIR.

    Yep.

Once you figure out what a MMO is, you know why you pay for it. 15 bucks buys you new content, patch fixes, access to servers that host hundreds of thousands worth of people, stability, and everything else. Servers and connections able to handle these arent cheap, nor is paying the developers. You as one person probably pay for less then an hours worth of work for some of the devs per month, considering the amount it takes to keep servers of that size running.

I have yet to ever try WoW yet, seeing as i hate monthly fees unless the game is UBER. I'm a GW addict so my vote goes that way naturally. If you want more info on the game let me know and ill try to give you as much info as possible.

Also, the second chapter of GW is supposed to be coming in the first half of 06' so if you decide to get it, you might want to hold off and wait for a gold pack of some sort.

If you want a friendly and understandable community go for Guild Wars as there isn't all that much of "Loll1111 N000b haXXor", its more like "Lol you got killed by an imp you loser!". Now World of Warcraft is a lot like the former even on the European servers, wheras GW isn't.

Plus in GW you can almost solo the enire game if you wanted (using NPC henchies still counts as Soloing) and you can use the games fast track method of travelling between places (Double Click on a town on the map and you instantly travel there) so it saves pointless hour of travelling through terrain you've already explored.

some of that I've never thought of I always thought that monthly fees payed for the servers and the rest goes to developers. but what you said makes sense. Despite what everyone has said about GW I'm still thinking of getting WoW. Can anyone tell me about WoW as far as method of payments etc. the registration produces basicly.

WoW consumes too much time. If you enjoy grinding stuff to get a more powerful character, go for it. I find that task boring, but it can keep you occupied for a LOT of time (is 30 hours a week much?) if you find the environment/players/combat system/whatever else interests you.

And I was really surprised how civil some of the GW players were. Though I've mostly played free korean online games, and a bit of WoW on a private server, almost all people were like the aforementioned OMGFG LOL HAXx0rr!!!1. That is, not good.

There is almost no grind in WoW compared to FFXI or similar, it is easy to solo in that as well.

The key in MMOs is to find a good group of people. Ive played with the same group since the beta of FFXI, some from the import of FFXI, so we work well

If my avatar doesn't give away which game I'll favor, then nothing will.

I'd say you should go with Guild Wars. It has no monthly fees, yet it still has more frequent updates than WoW.

As far as graphics, GW is freaking beautiful. In fact, I took many screenshots of its beauty. And you needn't worry about lag issues; the GW server is extremely fast and runs well even for dial-up users.

As for gameplay, GW is fairly easy to get into. The tutorial, Pre-Searing Ascalon, is very fun to go through. In fact, some people don't even realize that it's a tutorial, and spend the entire game there! After that, it's pretty easy to hit level 20 (the max level), and jump into PvP. Also, there are no "uber" items, despite what many ingame entrepreneurs tell you. So, you don't need to spend months farming for an item to get an edge, all you need are the right skills, the right strategy, and the right team. Another thing, you can only bring 8 skills with you whenever you go to PvP, or do PvE missions, so it forces you to think strategically, plan ahead, and coordinate with your group. Also, GW allows the creation of PvP characters, specifically designed for PvP play. However, they do require some time spent on PvE characters, unlocking skills for PvP play.

However, it isn't as life-destroying as WoW. It is not a game meant to be played forever. It does get boring after a while. For me, it got boring at around 850 hours. That was about the time I came back to EP . Not to mention you can only have 4 characters on an account, and you can't link accounts (meaning you can't combine two accounts into one, essentially giving you 4 more character slots).

I would say get Guild Wars. Just the fact you don't have to kill tons of time on it and you don't have to pay monthly fees. Sure, I didn't even play it long enough to beat it, I just got bored. However, it's not because Guild Wars was bad/boring, more that I just am sick of most video games now.

I'd say Final Fantasy XI. But that's cuz I have a real bad hankerin to play it but can't. But if you where me you'd end up buying both. Mainly cuz GW is free online. That's prety much the only reason i'd buy that one.
