uhh try pressing start (I think that CD player thing only comes up if you press A, B or C. Enter is probably start if you haven't changed the settings.

No, i tried that but it doesn't work. There was something bout a combination you had to do before you started a new (CD) game. It had to do with making new savestates but i forgot. But thanks anyway,

I'm not sure of what you're talking about so I'm just going to post some general troubleshooting tips for getting GENS to work:

Go to Option > Sega CD SRAM size > put a check mark next to 64 Kb

Now make sure all the game files are properly named:
    Example:
If the first file is Lunar.iso
Then all the mp3's have to be named:
    Lunar 02.mp3
    Lunar 03.mp3
    Lunar 04.mp3
    etc.

For Lunar Silver Star (and other games that require formatting the RAM):
After the title screen, if you get a screen that says:
EXTERNAL RAM CART HAS NOT BEEN FORMATTED YET.
    OKAY TO FORMAT IT?

Choose Cool! then press a button (or key on your keyboard, if you're using your keyboard to play) on your controller. If that doesn't work, then try another button (or key). If none of them work, you didn't configure your controller (or keyboard) properly.

Then press Start. You may have to press a button (or key) to get it to start playing.

To reconfigure the External Ram Cart at any time, all you have to do is: at the Sega screen which you see at the beginning, press the buttons you configured as your A, B, or C buttons, then choose OPTION, then press any button, from there you can Re-format either the Sega CD Rom or the RAM.

here this will do it i know because i just did it with popful mail 2 days ago

    1. dont use gens (it probably works but this is easier)
    2. go to romhustler.net and get the ages sega cd emulator and the sega cd and 32x bios
    3. install ages
    4. extract the bios
    5. change your screen settings to 16 bit color
    6. open ages go to config-file cd io-system roms
    7. change the directory of the 32x and sega cd bios to where ever you extracted them. and make sure the right bios are in the right spot (u) (e) (j)
    8. configure your input 6 or three button it doesnt matter.
    9. close that box then go file load rom find your rom and go
    10. there may be a delay from the "sega" screen where sonic shoots stars out of his hands and the beginning of the game if it doesnt come in id say 30 seconds then somethings wrong.
