Default Your favourite non-Final Fantasy RPG for the PS2

As the topic title asks, what is your favourite non-Final Fantasy RPG for the Playstation 2? It can be English or Japanese, but it must be an RPG. None of that "Well, it's not an RPG but my favourite game is.." crap that seems to happen in every thread like this.

Anyway, my favourite is Digital Devil Saga, by far. I'm downloading the sequel as we speak. ^^

hmmm. i've only played 2 for ps2, i believe. final fantasy 10 which was one of the worse FF games i've ever played and FF X2 which topped off FFX as worse. this is a good topic. maybe it'll open MY eyes and see what other good ones are there for ps2. i'm hoping someone has something good to say about the breath of fire and suikoden games lol

The Breath of Fire and Suikoden games for the PS2 are not up to par with their PSX relatives. Hopefully that will change with Suikoden V.

oooh. that sucks. while i was in LI i saw a BoF and suikoden games for ps2...wasn't sure if i should have picked'em up. but that does suck, especially for suikoden cuz the 1st two were great.

Edit: i also remember watching a friend play some dark cloud. and the boredom that coursed through my veins when it happened...i wanted to commit suicide. so...boring that game was.

The original Dark Cloud was dull and tedious, but the second improved a lot and I actually enjoyed it.

Haha I'm getting DDS2 now as well .

My favorite RPG PS2(No FF? No problem, this gen was kind of sad for FF)would probably be Tales of Destiny 2(JP), I loved the original too. SMT Nocturne is the runner up. Soooooooo hard but so fun.

From what I've heard it does ^^. My friend showed me the JP version, it looked pretty sweet.

Nope it plays exactly like the first. It's just story development. Which is fine with me.

It's gotten high ratings from EVERYWHERE.

Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne (Lucifer's Call in Europe). Shadow Hearts Covenant is a runner-up. I didn't really play the DDS games.
