For any of you who have seen Joss Whedon's awesome but quickly cancelled show Firefly, the movie that is continuing the show is showing worldwide this friday. The Firefly DVD set is already ranked #8 in dvd sales with a rating of five out of five stars on Amazon.com. There is a big fricken cult following for this show and its been acclaimed as one of the most anticapated movie of the year next to Star Wars (not that I listen to those things but meh). I'm seeing it this friday when it preimeires. How about you guys?

i saw a trailer for it when i went to see the emily rose movie. it impressed me about as much as pitch black did. take that as you wish lol

What'd you think was bad about it? Lot better and more thoughtful than most of the crap TVs churning out these days.

Only a few sci-fi's as as good as firefly is. Battlstar galatica is pretty good, although the excessive fanservice pisses me off (Less sex, more space battles!). And Babylon 5, of course. That's about it.

Farscape is excellent in many regards, but like star trek, takes almost all the science out of the "science fiction." And it's way too obsesive with a idealized state of peace.

Star trek.. well the original series has some very good espisodes... and some very bad ones. TNG just pissed me off with it's socialist propaganda, and arrogant and overly politically correct moral harrauges. DS9 was the lamest attempt at portraying a WAR in scifi... ever (no sense of strategy or logistics at all). Voyager turned into the Janeway, Seven and Doctor show... With janeway being a Mary Sue, to boot. Enterprise retconned everything, and it's "time war" was almost as lame as DS9's Conventional war.

Starwars was enjoyable but made me wince with it's naive politics and black/white morals.

Speaking honestly, Firfly deserves a slot among the best of Sci-fi.

It's sure a hell of a lot better than the lame line ups fox is trying to put up now....

Babylon 5 is one awsome series. I wish I had the money to shell out for it.

It's not as good as the X Files, but of course, not many shows are.

saw the first couple of episodes .... storyline was promising but not well executed ... acting stunk!

rotten tomatoes ranks serenity pretty highly, but lately their assessments have been suspect.

will probably wait til serenity is on dvd.
