    Okay there, settle down. Breathe.......

Now, what sound plug-in are you using? I always use Eternal's SPU v1.41, and it works perfect. Get it here: http://www.zophar.net/utilities/down...nal141_win.zip

    Set it like this:

If it still sounds a little off tone the buffer down to 64.

Sometimes, it depends on the hardware really. I have heard different opinions on this but I've tried both settings before and noticed no difference.

Try shutting down any processes you have running in the background on your laptop.
    That might help.

Hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete, that brings up your Task Manager for your pc. If you have anything running that doesn't need to be or you are not using ATM then close it down. Less processes running in the background means more CPU power for the emulator which means better gameplay

Not sure about other versions of Windows, but with Win98, you press CTRL-ALT-DEL once, and it shows a list or processes running in the background.
Then if you want, you can close these processes.
Which I have to do to get the disk defragmenter to work.

EDIT-Akuma did it to me again.

Well, most programs have a Desktop shortcut or a Start Menu shortcut to turn em on again. Like Yahoo Messenger or Quicktime or other stuff that doesn't need to be loaded in the System tray all the time.

Well, if you shut down the processes for your Anti-Virus, then all you need to do is Double-Click the icon for your Anti-virus software to reactivate those processes.
    Just an example.

Some processes though, you might have to restart your comp to reactivate them.
I don't know which processes are necessary for the proper operation of XP, so I'll let Akuma tell you which ones you shouldn't shut down.

    Take it away Akuma...

They're not deleted, they can be reactivated either by restarting the program that those processes are for, or restarting your comp.

And you don't need your Antivirus running in the background if you're not downloading anything, if all you're doing is playing games on your comp.

No they won't be deleted. If you're not going to be online (well you are going to be playing games right?) then just turn off your anti-virus software for the time being. There should be a shortcut for it on your desktop somewhere or in your Start Menu (click the Start button in the bottom left) to turn it on again, or if the icon stays in the tray on the bottom right just click it and turn it on from there.
