Creating PSX CD Check list files for the Playstation TOC plus LBA plus CDMage checks list thread

Progs used

• IsoBuster (Latest version (unregistered))
• TOC Reader (v1.0)
• CDMage (v1.02.1 beta 5)
• Daemon tools (Latest version)

Creating Check Files

1. Surface scan.

Why do it....
You are doing this to make sure you original is not going to have any problems being read, this is to ensure that the reports are correct as they may not be if the CD is not 100% readable (even scratched CD's can be 100% readable and what seem to be perfect CD's may still have reading problems so that why you check first)

How to do it....

• Insert your PSX CD into a PC CD or DVD drive
• Start up IsoBuster
• Make sure IsoBuster is reading the CD or DVD drive your PSX CD is in
• Right Click on CD then Click on Perform surface scan
• Wait for results
• If all is good you should be reading No physical errors encountered. Your disc is still in good shape.

2. List Tree-info

• Insert your PSX CD into a PC CD or DVD drive
• Start up IsoBuster
• Make sure IsoBuster is reading the CD or DVD drive your PSX CD is in
• Rightclick on the little red iso icon
• Move the mouse pointer to Folder tree and file information
• Move the mouse pointer again to List tree-info (in txt file)
• Now click on LBA, Relative Path

3. TOC list

• Insert your PSX CD into a PC CD or DVD drive
• Start up TOC Reader
• Make sure TOC Reader is reading the CD or DVD drive your PSX CD is in
• Click on Get TOC Info
• Click on Save TOC Info

4. Error scan

• I will add this at a later date
• I have a guide up though already that can be of help
• The guide is the CD Image Repair guide and gives enough info to at least see the results of a scan

Using the Check Files

This is done exacly the same way if you are checking a burned CD

If you are checking a download CD Image you can use Daemon Tools

0. CDImage mounting to virtual drive with Daemon Tools

• Download and install Daemon Tools (don't reset yet)
• Run Daemon Tools from the desktop short cut
• Once running an extra small icon will be shown next to your desktop clock
• Right Click on the small Daemon tools icon
• Move mouse to Virtual CD/DVD-Rom
• Move mouse to Set number of devices...
• Click 1 drive (Now reset)
• Once windows has booted again right click on the small Daemon tools icon again
• Move mouse to Virtual CD/DVD-Rom
• Move mouse to Device 0: [?] No Media
• Click on Mount Image
• Select the CD Image you will be examining
• If the CD Image has a descriptor file always choose that file to open by

Now you can follow the steps for Creating Check Files so you can compare them with the ones in the Playstation TOC plus LBA plus CDMage checks list thread.

Note:- descriptor files are very small files that tells software that reads them what files to open and what type of data is stored in them, common formats are ccd, cue and mdf, there will be others aswell just these are the common ones

Do you think I should unstick the Playstaion TOC plus LBA plus CDMage checks list thread and add it to the Emulator and Hardware Guides thread instead?

The reason I'm thinking this is that there seems to be a large amount of sticky threads again in this section, I'm also thinking that the None Emuparadise Guides thread could also be pushed into the Emulator and Hardware Guides thread or the links in it listed as none EP guides within that thread instead of it's own thread.

I'm not sure about this yet, hence this post.

I think linking the non Emuparadise guides in the emulator guides would be a good idea. It'll save you a sticky thread.

Looking at the amount of views of the Things you should post when Asking for help, I may just get rid of that sticky thread aswell, from alot of the posts it is evident that, that thread does not get read, but the members learn anyway, because they get asked to in there emu Q posts anyway

I suppose it can just be asked, plus you tend to find out a lot more with specific questions rather then people trying to answer questions that aren't being asked (I'm not sure if you get what I mean lol )

Hm.. I really need someone else who has an original disc of Pachi Pachi Saga (not an ISO or Copied/pirated disc)) My one reports over 1,000 errors in the movie files even though the image building process is perfect. I`m guessing there has got to be one other person in the world othr than me who has it

Don't worry about it this is part of the point in the thread, the CD Image may still be perfect even if CDMage reports the errors, hopefully once more members know of this work/thread maybe there will be someone that can compare there original to yours.

Maybe point the thread out to some of the members that atleast CDMage scan there own images, I already send Cookie Monster a quick PM just asking for a hand here.

I'm on board for this project as well

I'v got to sort out work for tonight (First night so I'm a bit nervous trying to get myself all sorted lol) but I have about 5 images ready to scan and put forward which I'll do either tonight when I get back or tomorrow. (lol got about 20 cds worth of backups here to test )

I`m just going to focus on all my original Japanese games, that should keep me busy for a long time. Though I am still having trouble with opening BIN + CUE images with CDMage and CDMage reporting 150 low errors when I make a .CCD image, Thats why I hate CDMage I`m sure I`ll work something out though.

Unfortionatly I have very little at the moment as most of my PSX CD's originals and backups are stored away ready for when I eventually move, I do have a few though that I will be adding and some that I already have dumped on my PC, though I do peference originals over backup but these are ones I dumped myself so the TOC layout will not of changed.

I`m just going to focus on all my original Japanese games, that should keep me busy for a long time.

And me busy updating that first post.. eventually I may have to make a seperate Index thread as each post can only hold so much, if that ever happens with errors reports though just don't post the full error details (just the number of errors) but say something like please read the attached error log for more details, you can mention that the original was scratch free or reported fine with IsoBuster's Surface scan to help point out that errors are probobly miss reported errors from CDMage

IsoBuster should create compatable CD Images that work with CDMage just fine without creating the 150/151 errors between tracks that Alcohol and CloneCD create

No probs, hopefully this will accomplish something, even maybe a good iso standard of marking Psx isos lol (though now thinking of it, its seems a good idea)
